Norwegian Spirit, Mykonos

Lin and Beth   /

Mykonos 18th Oct Norwegian Spirit Sun
We are docked at the island of Mykonos as we breakfast this morning.
We catch the shuttle bus to town ( population of the island is 10,000) and walk through the white buildings and small irregular streets. Apparently the streets have no logis and are small to discourage pirates in centuries gone by.
There are 7 in the town that were built by the Venetians in the 16th century to process agricultural product.
There was a church service and the taverna next to the church had many tables with sausage rolls pastries and sweets already set out on the tables. The church brought back memories if the wedding we attended in the Greek Island of Ithaca in 2007. It seems like yesterday.
Coffee tea and soft drinks in a taverna by the sae and it was time to return to the mothership for lunch.
A leisurely afternoon with ping pong reading and sun baking ( it is the Mediterranean) and my goodness it was time for dinner. We dined in the Garden room (1st time) and had another great meal of Moussaka spaghetti and hamburgers.
Josh has picked up a cold and Daniel is tired as he awoke so early but we are otherwise surviving the pace.
The lady on the next table is from NZ and she has just advised that Australia have just beaten Scotland in the rugby. She wants to hug one of our buys as she has left an 8YO at home.
